About this matchbox
The Eugenia restaurant was founded in 1971, the drawing on the back side evokes the port of Cambrils where it is located. Managed until its closure in 2010 by the third generation of the Pedrell family, Josep Pedrell and his wife Eugenia Rigual Clanxet (who gives the restaurant its name). The restaurant was characterized by classic Catalan and market cuisine with elements of signature cuisine for which it earned a Michelin Star from 1980 to 1990 in addition to other culinary recognitions that appear on the stamps inside the box (Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Confrérie du Guillon, etc).
Being a renowned restaurant almost contemporary, it wasn't difficult for me to track down the box. And, fortunately, the address of the match company is Avenida del Generalísimo, a street that disappeared in 1980, allowing me to better narrow down the estimated printing dates of the box. However, despite having closed when the internet was already around, I can't find photos of the restaurant other than an old postcard.
