About this matchbox

Mariposa probably forms part of a series dedicated to the fauna and flora of Alto Aragón. It features the Polyommatus Icarus, known as the common blue, a small butterfly from the lycaenid family widely spread across Europe. Interestingly, it is said that the name "icarus" of this butterfly comes from the myth of Icarus.

I haven't been able to trace much, nor have I found the series it belonged to yet, so below are more photos of this incredibly beautiful butterfly. The one shown in the image is a female butterfly with distinctive orange spots in a row. In contrast, the male butterfly has sky-blue wings with a white perimeter edge. Both are amazing.
