About this matchbox

Mariposa is probably part of a series dedicated to the fauna and flora of Alto Aragón. It features the Polyommatus Icarus, known as the common blue, a small butterfly from the lycaenid family that is widespread in Europe. Interestingly, it is said that the name “icarus” of this butterfly comes from the myth of Icarus.

I haven't been able to trace much, nor can I currently find the series it belonged to, so I’ll leave more photos of this incredibly beautiful butterfly below. The one shown in the image is a female butterfly that has characteristic orange spots in a row. In contrast, the male butterfly has sky blue wings with a white border. Both are stunning.
