The Hotel Landa de Burgos has been a legendary stop on the route to northern Spain and France for decades, I have passed by there a thousand times with my family and that’s why I couldn’t help but take this matchbox for the collection. It started in 1959 as a small restaurant on the road, its traditional cuisine featured an iconic dish "fried eggs with blood sausage".

A few years later, in 1964, they expanded the business by opening a hotel whose centerpiece is a 14th-century tower, an original defensive tower from Albillos, which was dismantled and moved stone by stone to its current location to house the unique rooms and suites. It also has an iconic neo-Gothic indoor pool that you will love.

And as a random anecdote: it was visited by Audrey Hepburn in the 60s when her husband Mel Ferrer was filming in Spain.
