About this matchbox

This box caught my attention because of the image on it. It is about The National Museum of Bardo in Tunisia which opened in 1888. It is not just a museum but is located within an ancient palace from the Ottoman era, and besides being one of the oldest in the Arab world and North Africa, it is world-renowned for housing the largest and most prominent collection of Roman mosaics in the world, as well as Punic, Greek, and Islamic pieces. I didn't know about it, and I found it to be a super interesting place that I would love to visit.

With the help of good online translators, I discovered what the Arabic inscriptions on the back of the box meant. On the left side, in a vertical arrangement, we can read “Fábrica de Tabaco de Kairouan.” In the center, horizontally, “Traditional Architecture.” The same message appears in French on the right side, in a vertical arrangement.

I still don't know which exact room the photograph is from, but I trust I will find out soon.
