About this matchbox
From the restaurant Los Doce Apóstoles, although I have the address, I haven't managed to find much information about the menu, its interiors, nothing at all. According to its tax data, I can deduce that it opened in 1987 and was located in Plaza República de Ecuador in Madrid.
What I have been able to pull from is that the engraving that appears on the box is very specific, it belongs to one of the pre-Romanesque paintings of the Church of San Quirico de Pedret, specifically the famous “orant” within the circle with the bird above. I find it a very particular choice of image; I would say that perhaps the designer of the box or the owner of the restaurant probably had artistic or architectural training, an interest in Catalan Romanesque, and/or some connection to Catalonia.
