This Expo 92 box dates itself quite evidently. I wish they were all this easy to date, although it would truly lose a very fun part of the research. I'm thrilled to have this piece because Curro fascinates me and sparks a lot of curiosity. So here's an excuse to investigate more about him.

Who is Curro? Curro was the unforgettable mascot of Expo '92 in Seville. He was designed by illustrator Heinz Edelmann, and his colorful figure became one of the most recognizable symbols of 1990s Spain and the optimistic spirit with which the country presented itself to the world (although he wasn't very popular at first). His name comes from the colloquial diminutive for Francisco, a very classic Spanish name. And it can be said that in Spain, Curro is as famous as other iconic mascots like Cobi or Naranjito.
