About this matchbox
City Crab opened its doors in 1993, on its two floors fresh crab, lobster, and oysters were served every day. For more than twenty years it was a classic of the Union Square neighborhood, until it disappeared in 2015 and made way for another icon of New York gastronomy.
The box survived longer than the restaurant. It's curious, I don't think there are many tangible things left from it and here is this little box, centimeters that contain a story of twenty-two years. If you're curious, I’ll share some photos of what the restaurant looked like, which, mind you, have not been so easy to find during the internet age.
