About this matchbox
This box advertised Helados Bruin. Bruin means bear in Dutch, which is why this animal appears in the logo. This ice cream shop was inaugurated in 1964 and was quite a classic in the Pintor Rosales/Marqués de Urquijo area of Madrid. Among the flavors of its ice creams, we find some as original as olive oil, idiazábal cheese, sherry, zabaglione, violet, or Málaga with rum raisins. I would have loved to try the olive oil or the zabaglione, which is a cream made of egg yolk, sugar, and wine.
According to my latest findings, in 1998, the company changed its name from "Trupick SA" to "Helados Bruin SL", likely changing hands and finally closed in 2013. I will keep searching to see if I can find any photos of the shop when it was open; for now, I am only finding photos from later and some from its Facebook page from a more modern era where I can see that there was a rebranding and they modernized the logo. I will keep updating if I find anything else by pulling on this thread.
